I know Oklahoma State’s win came at the expense of a Washington State squad that is most definitely the worst BCS conference team in the nation. But it’s pretty hard to hide the proverbial boner over last Saturday’s win. How about that Diamond formation? I’ve been so used to Gundy’s tired zone-read option garbage that it was jarring to see the Cowboys in something halfway innovative.
Perhaps Kendall Hunter read my “Kendall Hunter is to toughness what Dexter Manley is to literacy” bon mot last season because he ran like Delonte West just slept with his mother. And Justin Blackmon went from an Otis Nixon clone to the top receiving prospect in the Big 12. When Hubert Anyiam returns and joins Hunter, Blackmon and Brandon Weeden, the OSU athletic department will have to start printing “Quadruplets” t-shirts.
I’m glad Gundy pulled most of the important starters – especially with two defenders going down with injury – but I’m sure Weeden could use a few more snaps. It’s not like he’s a seasoned vet. The guy has taken about 55 live snaps in the last 9 years.
Cowboys are 11 1/2 point favorites on Saturday on Troy. I love them to cover. I love that spread enough to cuddle with it post-coitus.
