Mike Gundy made the rounds at ESPN on Tuesday, including a guest spot on ESPN’s “First Take.”
Host Jay Crawford asked the basic questions initially like “Talk about the offense in the Big 12” … “What’s it like opening with Georgia.”
Then … awkward.
ESPN played about 45 select seconds of Gundy’s rant in 2007. Surely they gave Gundy a head’s up before the segment. Because he didn’t seem pissed when they came back to a 2-shot. He answered a few of Crawford’s questions and was pretty cool about it. Mostly because to choke out Crawford on live TV probably wouldn’t help season ticket sales.
Some things Gundy said about the rant:
-He claims to have never seen the entire thing
-He heard it got “six million hits on the internet.”
-One of his kids has learned lines from the rant to mock his father
-The rant has actually HELPED recruiting because parents know, according to Gundy, that he will stick up for their kid should that recruit come to Stillwater.
Also Gundy said the 2008 Zac Robinson was better than the 1988 Mike Gundy. Pshtah!
All in all, Gundy was fairly candid, mildly interesting and even grinned once. And the lettuce. Oh my, the lettuce. I’ll let the image speak for itself.
